Live in Chicago? Capone has seats to an early screening of THE DROP, starring Tom Hardy and James Gandolfini!!!

Hey everyone. Capone in Chicago here.

One of the greatest losses suffered in the acting world last year was the passing of James Gandolfini, a performer who was so much more than his most famous role, and he never grew tired of proving it. His final film role was as Cousin Marv in next week’s release THE DROP, a crime drama based on the short story (and adapted) by Dennis Lehane (writer of the novels MYSTIC RIVER, GONE BABY GONE, and SHUTTER ISLAND). The film also stars Tom Hardy, Noomi Rapace, John Ortiz, and Matthias Schoenaerts, the Belgian-born actor who starred in RUST AND BONE and the Oscar-nominated BULLHEAD, whose director, Michaël R. Roskam, also directed THE DROP. Clearly, there are a lot of reasons to be excited about this film.

When you’re faced with the seeing the last film by an actor or director you love dearly, you often get very eager and anxious (if you don’t know the difference, look it up). Eager happens for obvious reasons, but anxious comes because, after this performance, there is no more, and you want there to be. You want to savor that last film role, and hope it’s as good as everything that actor has done before that has led you to believe it might be. And so, if you’d like to catch an early Chicago screening of THE DROP, I have a limited number of reserved seats. Here’s how to win them…

The early screening of THE DROP is happening in Chicago on Monday, September 8 at 7:00pm at a theater in downtown Chicago (the exact location will only be given to winners), and I have a limited number of reserved tickets for a fortunate Ain’t It Cool News readers to attend.

To win a pair of tickets (or just one, if that's all you want), send me an email at DropChicago@aintitcoolmail.com (please note the new email address) with the subject line “Are You Doing Something Desperate?” (exactly like that). In the body of the email, I need your Full Name, whether or not you're bringing a Guest (each winner may bring ONE confirmed guest--if I think you gave your +1 to someone trolling for free tickets at the theater, you won't get in), and the answer to the following question: “What is your favorite James Gandolfini role (in movies or television), and why?” Keep your responses BRIEF--no more than 100 words (no matter how tempted you are to go over the limit). And if you pick Tony Soprano, you better have an interesting answer for me, as it will likely be the most popular, and only the entires that stand out will win. Best answers (as determined by me) win, and you'll hear from me VERY SOON if you won, so check your email frequently in the next couple of days.

This is not an exclusive Ain't It Cool News event, but winners' tickets will be held until 30 minutes before showtime (meaning 6:30pm), at which time any unclaimed tickets will be given away; no exceptions. So you should arrive early to make sure you get in and get a good seat. If you can't arrive early, don't enter this contest. If there's even the slightest chance you or your guest will have to back out of attending or arrive late if you do win, don't enter. If you have a job that might make you late or unable to attend, or an ill/pregnant relative, or a temperamental significant other, or a scratchy throat, do not enter. And the 24-hour-notice-to-cancel rule is done. If you win and don't show up, the Black List is your new best friend.

Good luck, everyone! And thanks to the Fox Searchlight Pictures for giving us this very cool screening.
