We’ve seen a couple of stills over the past few weeks, but now it’s time to check out some actual footage from Jon Stewart’s directorial debut, ROSEWATER.
The highly-anticipated film is based on the true story of a journalist Maziar Bahari (played by Gael Garcia Bernal), who was captured during the 2009 Iranian election protests and held on suspicion of espionage. He was eventually released, but not until after being forced to confess to a number of crimes under the numerous torturous interrogations for 118 days.
The subject matter is definitely up Stewart’s alley (an interview that Bahari did on the Daily Show was even used as evidence against him during the interrogation process), but we’ve all been curious to see just how he would handle his first time calling the shots behind the camera.
ROSEWATER opens on November 7th. What do you guys think?
