A new TV spot for the upcoming OUIJA has hit, featuring a more condensed version of the trailer, plus some new footage.
The story follows a group of friends who accidentally summon something sinister when attempting to contact their deceased friend using everyone's favorite evil party game.
On the surface, it doesn't really look too terribly different from every other Ouija board sequence from a dozen other horror films, but there is a reason that scene appears so frequently. Seances are an indespensible part of the horror genre, and Ouija boards in particular offer a solid (if perhaps overplayed) means of generating scares. Most of us have played the game at one time or another, and pretty much everybody has a story about that creepy thing that happened that one time. So no matter how many times we've seen it, it remains a staple of horror and can be an effective way of making the audience jump.
The film is the directorial debut of Stiles White, who previously wrote the screenplays for BOOGEYMAN and THE POSSESSION. It is set for release on October 24th.
