Hey guys! Horrorella here...
USA Today has unveiled the first images from Tim Burton's upcoming film, BIG EYES. Based on a true story, the film centers on Margaret and Walter Keane (Amy Adams and Christoph Waltz), a couple whose work rocked the art world in the 1950's, first when it hit the scene to a high level of popularity, and again when they separated and it came to light that, while Walter had claimed credit for the pieces, Margaret had actually been the real artist.
"Margaret really believed that as a woman, people would not buy her art...Walter "convinced her the life they were able to lead was because the artist was a man, who could sell more art at a higher price than a woman."
The issue was settled in court through the most logical (though bizarre) method possible: a courtroom paint-off.
The story isn't really want we have come to expect from Burton, especially in recent years, which is part of the reason it sounds like an exciting endevor. I'd like to see him tackle something a little more outside the box and a little more challenging, and this story certainly provide some interesting material.
BIG EYES opens December 25th.
