Robert Kurtzman preps Freddy Kruger make-up for Robert Englund one last time. Capone has the photos!!!

Hey everyone. Capone in Chicago here.

As I called to your attention recently, iconic horror actor Robert Englund will be donning his full Freddy Kruger make-up for photo opportunities at Chicago’s Flashback Weekend Horror Convention on August 8 (the event runs August 9-10 as well). Englund has stated more than once that this will be the absolute final time he will put on the the Kruger make-up (in fact, it’s the first time he’s worn it since he wrapped FREDDY VS. JASON more than 10 years ago.

The occasion is two-fold. This year marks the 30 anniversary of the original A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, and all proceeds from this special event (and all of Flashback Weekend) will go toward the Midway Drive-In Digital Fund—a funding drive to pay for the Dixon, IL drive-in’s digital projector to go along with its 35mm set up, used to present classic horror film festivals and for the preservation and operation of the American drive-in experience. Tickets for the Englund events (he'll be around all weekend, but will only be doing the Freddy make-up on the first day), as well as all of Flashback Weekend, can be purchased now at the event’s site, www.flashbackweekend.com.

We’ve actually got some exclusive shots of horror make-up effects master Robert Kurtzman, who will design and apply the make-up using the same extensive process used in the ELM STREET films, finalizing the Freddy Kruger applications that will be placed on Englund one last time:

In addition to Englund’s appearances and photo ops, the 2014 Flashback Weekend features: a PHANTASM 35th anniversary reunion featuring director Don Coscarelli and stars Angus Scrimm, Reggie Bannister, Michael Baldwin, Bill Thornbury, and Kathy Leste; Lance Henriksen; Jen and Sylvia Soska (The Twisted Twins) and their AMERICAN MARY star Katharine Isabelle; Traci Lords; Zach Galligan; Amanda Wyss; Ronee Blakley; Jennifer Rubin; a HELLRAISER reunion (Barbie Wilde and Nicholas Vance); William Forsythe; Monica Keena; Grindhouse Releasing co-founder (and Academy Award-winning editor) Bob Murawski; and CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST (the recent blu-ray of which was released by Grindhouse Releasing) star Robert Kerman; a CHILDREN OF THE CORN 30th anniversary reunion with John Franklin and Courtney Gains; THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 2’s Caroline Williams and Bill Johnson; Robert Rusler; and Charles Band, with the latest incarnation of his Full Moon Horror Roadshow.

Hope to see you there. It should be a helluva show.
