First Images from Jon Stewart's Directorial Debut ROSEWATER!

Hey guys! Horrorella here...

EW has released the first images of Jon Stewart’s directorial debut, ROSEWATER. The Daily Show host took a leave of absence last summer to helm a film based on the true story of journalist Maziar Bahari, played by Gael Garcia Bernal.

In 2009, during the Iranian election protests, Bahari was arrested, imprisoned and tortured for 118 days by Iranian officials. Bahari was forced to confess to a number of espionage-related crimes, and an interview that he had even done on The Daily Show was used as evidence against him. After his release, he penned a memoir entitled Then They Came for Me, upon which the film has been based.

It's definitely a new directon for Stewart, but one he hopes will resonate with the film's audience.

“I hope people view it for what it is—a love letter to expression and the importance of it. It’s everything.”

Rosewater will see a limited release starting November 7th.
