Is a New TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE Film in the Works?

Hey guys! Horrorella here...

Released last year, TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D was a direct sequel to Tobe Hooper’s 1974 classic, and though it did pretty well at the box office, we haven’t heard much about a follow-up film.

According to Bloody Disgusting, a new film is, in fact, in the works. Their source revealed that Lionsgate is currently in early talks on the next feature, which looks like it would fit into the timeline between Hooper’s original film and last year’s follow-up.

Word is, it would follow the misadventures of an adolescent Leatherface. Which would be making the statement that the massive Gunnar Hanson of the original film was playing a teenager back in 1974. It seems a little odd, given that I doubt that anyone on the planet was ever assuming that the Leatherface of Hooper's film was in his teens (early-30’s seems more of an appropriate age for any good chainsaw-wielding psychopath), but I guess since it was never firmly established, it’s fair game as far as the writers are concerned.

Personally, I prefer the raw quality of the original film to just about anything else that has followed. It remains intensely unnerving in a way that the newer films just can’t seem to capture. But what do you guys think? Are you enjoying the newer films, and do you think there is potential for growth there?
