Hey guys! Horrorella here...
2006's SEE NO EVIL was a fairly forgettable horror film. It was bloody and violent but really offered little more than being a passable late-night cable watch. WWE star Kane was certainly imposing figure as psychopath Jacob Goodnight, he never really turned it into a franchise-worthy boogie man.
Despite that, the property could be seeing a second chance with the unexpected sequel, directed by Jen and Sylvia Soska (AMERICAN MARY). The film will pick up where the first film left off, and will follow a group of friends who throw an impromptu birthday party for their friend Amy (Danielle Harris) at the city morgue, where she works (and is apparently a great place to throw a birthday party). The festivities are cut short when the body of murderer Goodnight is brought in, and turns out to be slightly less dead than the authorities thought. The always fantastic Katharine Isabelle co-stars, along with Chelan Simmons, Kaj-Erik Eriksen, Greyson Hoult, and Lee Majdoub.
I was lukewarm on AMERICAN MARY; it certainly wasn't a mind blowing movie, but it had enough going for it that left me quite interested in seeing what else the Soskas come up with. This marks their first feature since then, and they will also be contributing a short to the upcoming ABCS OF DEATH 2. Additionally, it was announced earlier this week that they will be helming a PAINKILLER JANE adaptation in the coming months.
SEE NO EVIL 2 will hit VOD on October 17th, and Blu-ray on October 21st. It could make for some entertaining Halloween viewing. What do you guys think?
