When my lady and I initially saw the first trailer for this film, we snickered derisively thorough its opening moments. It looked like a stereotyped, young love/‘pining for the boy’ sort of affair which rolls into theaters once or twice a year - and rarely works, or makes any kind of impact at all.
But then the trailer changed, and it became clearly…compelling…evident that there’s a compelling genre angle to IF I STAY which many potential viewers may not yet be aware of. And what looked utterly frivolous and irrelevant - might well be something else entirely. You check out the first trailer HERE.
Below, a newly issued look at the film, which releases August 22 starring Chloë Grace Moretz and directed by R.J Cutler (a director / Executive Producer on NASHVILLE) ad based on a novel by Gayle Forman.
