Writers Named for New POWER RANGERS Movie!

Hey guys! Horrorella here...

With the Jem movie filming, Transformers still making box office money and more Ninja Turtle action hitting theaters later this summer, it's pretty safe to say that anything we knew, loved and played with as kids is fair game for film adaptations.

Which is why it comes as no huge surprise that a new Power Rangers movie is in the works. The property featured teens who able to harness superpowers to defeat a variety of enemies threatening Earth. The series was an American adaptation of the popular Japanies SUPER SENTAI series, and was enormously hot in the '90's, with a television show and a gazillion toys. It is now being prepped for a big-screen comeback thanks to Lionsgate.

And it sounds like it has found its writing team. THR reports that X-MEN: FIRST CLASS and THOR writers Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz have been brought on board to write the screenplay, and that Roberto Orci will be serving as executive producer, and will also help to develop the story.

The Power Rangers franchise has seen multiple series and a rotating cast over the years, and it sounds like what we're going to see in this film will be a complete re-imagining, and will start from scratch with the concept. No doubt, they will be trying to relaunch the franchise into a film series, which wouldn't even be a huge sin, given the fact that Power Rangers was never really a singular, one-off concept to begin with.

What do you guys think? Would you be excited to see the Power Rangers hit the big screen again?
