Doomsday in BATMAN V SUPERMAN? Maybe, maybe not...

Earlier today, Bleeding Cool made a ton of waves by announcing that they'd heard from sources working on BATMAN V SUPERMAN that Doomsday was going to be featured in the film. As Devin Faraci over at Badass Digest notes, Doomsday was featured in the phony "leaked" BvS script that made the rounds recently, as a creation of Lex Luthor dubbed "The Ultimate." He ends up killing Superman, as he does in the comics, leading to a cliffhanger where The Green Lantern Corps prays for Supes' return to help against the impending attack by Darkseid.

Now, I think it's safe to say that the leaked script is totally phony, and at the very most, is an ancient draft with very little resemblance to what's actually being filmed. But if Doomsday did make an appearance, you'd think it would be to reenact the Death of Superman arc the same way THE DARK KNIGHT RISES appropriated the old Nightfall story. And I'm not sure they'd do that in the same movie where we see Lex, New Jack Bruce Wayne, and the JLA for the first time.

My guess is that the "designs" that were allegedly seen are either for an ancillary product, like a tie-in animated film, comic, or video game, have been discarded, or are just being tinkered with for the following JLA film or at the most maybe a post-credits teaser in BvS.

Personally, I hope that's the case. This movie is introducing a TON of new characters, both for the franchise and for many non-fanboy audiences. Doomsday, and the death and return of Superman, is a formidable enough threat that he deserves his own picture.

And the idea of making him Lex's creation and not a behemoth from deep within the bowels Krypton is just…lame. It's worth bringing back more of that "fellow Kryptonian" anguish and tension from MAN OF STEEL.

If this does turn out to be true, how would you feel about Doomsday shouldering himself into the already-massive BATMAN V SUPERMAN?

BATMAN V SUPERMAN for the title on May 6, 2016.
