THE PURGE: ANARCHY makes its way into theaters next week, promising a bigger story with a wider scope than what we saw in the first film.
In anticipation, we are premiering an exclusive sound clip of the new score by Nathan Whitehead.
Whitehead, who also composed the score for the previous film, mirrored the larger scope and focus of the new story with his composition. This film will move away from the home invasion concept of the first movie, and will instead focus on the effects of The Purge in an urban setting, without the benefits of steel doors and high powered security systems. Whitehead’s score definitely captures the sense of excitement and dread in this broader story, as THE PURGE hits the streets.
“Everything is bigger this time; the action, drama and tension all take place on a much larger scale. I worked hard to incorporate this larger scope in the music, and we went much further combining aggressive electronics and textures with a live orchestra. It was such a satisfying challenge, and I hope my score delivers the intense experience that moviegoers are looking forward to having.”
THE PURGE: ANARCHY hits theaters on July 18th, but the soundtrack is already available for pre-order on iTunes. In the meantime, check out a sample below.
