Hey guys! Horrorella here...
GODS AND MONSTERS, Bill Condon's portrait of FRANKENSTEIN director James Whale, was my first exposure of the great Ian McKellen, an actor that I would grow to greatly admire. He has taken on a wide range of roles throughout his career, and he is now re-teaming with Condon to add one more classic to his list.
MR. HOLMES will tell a new story in the adventures of the great detective Sherlock Holmes, with McKellen taking on the titular role. Previous titled A SLIGHT TRICK OF THE MIND, this film will catch up with a retired, 93-year-old Holmes in 1947, living with his housekeeper and her detective son, as a cold case from years before continues to prey on his mind.
Ian McKellan taking on the role of one of literature's most iconic characters is a prospect that, frankly, sounds awesome! I can't wait to see how this shapes up. McKellen tweeted the first picture of himself in character today. Check it out!
