“Big Brother” will be much trickier to play this summer, with two competing Heads of Household anointed each week and four potential evictees nominated at once. Each week’s two HoHs will battle to determine which of them will retain power on expulsion day. (This season’s HoHs can also be nominated for eviction!)
More importantly, CBS finally invested in some HD cameras for the BB house, so it’s no longer the only network broadcast shot entirely in standard definition.
Of the 16 BB contestants this year, 12 are in their twenties and all but one are younger than 34. The “old man” of the house is 42-year-old school groundskeeper Donny Thompson, who grew a Muslim-y beard that makes him look like the Christians on “Duck Dynasty.”
Another of the contestants is Frankie Grande, 31, older half-brother of 20-year-old double-platinum recording artist and Nickelodeon star Ariana Grande (“Sam & Cat”). Frankie says he makes his living as a YouTube personality.
If NBC’s new hourlong “Taxi Brooklyn” feels familiar, it’s because it is based on Luc Besson’s popular French movies about a white cop who relies on a taxi driver of color to spirit him to crime scenes. Both characters were male in the Besson movies, but Queen Latifah played the cab driver in the big-screen American remake co-starring Jimmy Fallon. For NBC’s TV version, it’s the white cop who wears the lipstick.
