Warner Brothers has released the first trailer for the very John Grishamy-sounding THE JUDGE:
I don’t know about you guys but to me that trailer made the film look like a Lifetime drama with a really great cast. The director, David Dobkin is mostly known for directing comedies and struck gold in 2005 with the monster hit, WEDDING CRASHERS. Since then though he has directed FRED CLAUS and THE CHANGE-UP while also having written the stories for JACK THE GIANT SLAYER and R.I.P.D.
Dobkin is on a bit of a cold streak and looks to be trying something different in hopes for a change in success. I don’t know how successful he will be with THE JUDGE, as that trailer is terrible, but with Robert Downey Jr., Robert Duvall, Billy Bob Thornton, Vincent D’Onofrio, Melissa Leo and Vera Farmiga he has a hell of a cast.
Hopefully, THE JUDGE will prove to be a much more interesting film than this trailer and its title make it seem when it is released October 10th.
