If Soderbergh jumping from movies to Cinemax seems an unexpected move, recall that Soderbergh also directed all 10 episodes of HBO’s lobbyist mockumentary “K Street” way back in 2003.
Writers Jack Amiel & Michael Belger co-wrote 2004's Kate Hudson vehicle "Raising Helen," 2006's Tim Allen version of "The Shaggy Dog," and the 2012 whale drama "Big Miracle."

Set in downtown New York in 1900, THE KNICK centers on Knickerbocker Hospital and the groundbreaking surgeons, nurses and staff, who push the bounds of medicine in a time of astonishingly high mortality rates and zero antibiotics.
