“Matador,” co-created by Bob Orci (“Fringe,” “Sleepy Hollow”) for Robert Rodriguez’s El Rey Network, follows a DEA agent who goes undercover for the CIA as a player on one of the world’s best soccer teams.
The series stars Gabriel Luna (“Bernie”), Elizabeth Peña (“Rush Hour”), Alfred Molina (“Spider-Man 2,” “Monday Mornings”), Nicky Whelan (“Franklin & Bash”), and Neil Hopkins (Charlie’s rock-star brother Liam on “Lost”).
El Rey launches it July 15.
