The Playlist has posted the first still from the new film from Alejandro Amenabar's new film, REGRESSION.
Minnesota, 1990. Detective Bruce Kenner (Ethan Hawke) investigates the case of young Angela (Emma Watson), who accuses her father, John Gray (David Dencik), of an unspeakable crime. When John unexpectedly and without recollection admits guilt, renowned psychologist Dr. Raines (David Thewlis) is brought in to help him relive his memories and what they discover unmasks a horrifying nationwide mystery.
Amenabar has a solid record, having directed the Oscar-winning THE SEA INSIDE, as well as ABRE LOS OJOS (the Spanish film that was the basis for VANILLA SKY) and THE OTHERS, which is one of my favorite haunted house tales in recent memory. From the plot synopsis, REGRESSION promises to be a tense and emotional thriller - I can't wait to see what he does with it.
The film is set for release on August 28, 2015
