After working on some really amazing films with visionary directors such as Nicholas Riding Refn (DRIVE) and Derek Cianfrance (BLUE VALENTINE), it’s no wonder Ryan Gosling is taking a page out of both of their books with his newest project. He is making his directorial debut with LOST RIVER (previously titled HOW TO CATCH A MONSTER). The film is premiering at Cannes this week, but in the meantime, a clip has been released online (via The Playlist) to give us a brief look at what to expect.
This short clip features Matt Smith and Ian De Caestecker. On the surface, it looks pure arthouse - dreamy and strange, with a very hypnotic quality to it. But the visual style looks to set up a rather fantastic story, wherein a single mother and her son discover a road that leads to an underwater town.
The film also stars Christina Hendricks, Ben Mendelsohn, Eva Mendes, and Saoirse Ronan.
