FUCK YEAH! We’ve been following the development of the SNOWPIERCER debacle over the past year. Korean director Bong Joon-ho’s (MOTHER, THE HOST) English language debut has been delayed from its stateside opening while Bong tangled with The Weinstein Company over what version of the film would be released. TWC reportedly wanted to release a dumbed-down version with over 20 minutes hacked away, while Bong was resolute that his version of the film should be the only one seen.
We are beyond happy to report that not only has Bong finally won the great battle, but that a U.S. trailer is now available (red-band for some violence).
The film is an adaptation of the French graphic novel which tells the story of a post-apocalyptic future wherein what remains of humanity is relegated to living on a train that is constantly circling the globe. Our story is that of a class struggle that develops on the train between the wealthy and the impoverished.
The cast is incredible – Chris Evans, John Hurt, Tilda Swinton, Alison Pill, Jamie Bell, Ed Harris, Octavia Spencer and Song Kang-Ho. The film was very well-received when it opened pretty much everywhere else, and I can’t wait to finally have the opportunity to check it out.
Thankfully, the wait is almost over - SNOWPIERCER opens June 27th.
