AICN ON THE MAT: The Ultimate War is over…RIP Ultimate Warrior…

The Dean here with sad news. For wrestling fans, to imagine The Ultimate Warrior in any state of weakness is impossible. For years we watched him stand impervious to attacks from the likes of Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant, Randy Savage… We watched him rise up, just when we thought he might be beaten, turning the ring, the crowd, and himself into an unstoppable energy that would overcome any and everything in his way.

Last night, The Ultimate Warrior left this world to his “Little Warriors.” In typical Warrior fashion, though, he did so triumphantly. For too many years his legacy suffered the effects of rumors and truths half told, but five nights ago he stood proudly in front of his fans, his peers, and his family, as he made amends with the WWE and accepted his rightful place in the Hall of Fame. At WRESTLEMANIA 30, he heard a crowd of over 75,000 erupt once more for him, and Monday night on RAW he left us with these final words:

“Every man’s heart one day beats its final beat. His lungs breathe their final breath. And if what that man did in his life what makes the blood pulse through the body of others and makes them bleed deeper and something larger than life, then his essence, his spirit, will be immortalized”

So as the Warrior returns to Parts Unknown after a weekend celebrating his legacy, we can at least take solace in the fact that he leaves knowing how much he meant to us, how much he inspired us, and that we’re left forever wanting more.
