Hey guys! Horrorella here...
Deadline is reporting an interesting project and potential pairing. It seems Amy Adams is circling a role in Denis Villeneuve’s new film. Villeneuve has garnered considerable attention over the past year for directing the mystery/thriller PRISONERS, as well as the Jake Gyllenhaal-starring ENEMY, which is in theaters now.
The film in question is a sci-fi tale, based on the Nebula-winning short story Story of your Life, by Ted Chiang. The script (which made it on to 2012’s Black List) was written by Eric Heisserer (the upcoming Hurricane Katrina-set thriller, HOURS).
Adams would play the role of a linguist who is recruited by the military to make contact with a group of aliens after they arrive on Earth.
The most interesting thing about this project is that it doesn’t seem to be the obvious choice for either of them. It’s always fun to watch artists stretch and step into something new. While we haven’t really seen Adams take on a straight sci-fi role before, she is certainly talented enough to be able to make the jump between genres. And Villeneuve’s work with building suspense in his prior films will no doubt lend itself well here.
