BLUE RUIN received all of the love and attention when it played the festival circuit, garnering high praise at Fantastic Fest, Cannes, Sundance, and pretty much anywhere else it was shown. As we gear up for the excitement that is the summer blockbuster season, this small, intense story of revenge remains one of my most highly-anticipated spring openings. It looks to be a tightly-paced, suspenseful thriller about a man forced to do the unthinkable in the name of revenge and of protecting his family.
A peaceful vagrant finds his quiet life upended by dreadful news and sets off for his childhood home to carry out an act of vengeance. Since he is only an amateur assassin, he winds up in a brutal fight to protect his estranged family.
