ABC’s new-series losing streak, extended by the likes of “666 Park Avenue” (which launched with a 2.1) “Red Widow” (1.5) and “Betrayal” (1.5), is over. “ABC’s “Resurrection” enjoyed a blockbuster 3.8 launch, beating everything else on broadcast TV last Sunday. (With “live+3” DVR ratings, the premiere actually scored a 5.0 in the key 18-49 demo.)
With its finale, “True Detective” enjoyed far and away its series high. It also brought HBO its most watched freshman season since “Six Feet Under” premiered 13 years ago.
With the Olympics and the Oscars finally out of the way, “Amazing Race” hit a season high.
“The Good Wife,” owned by CBS, last week got an early renewal for next season. The higher-rated “Mentalist,” owned by Warner Bros., did not.
