Here's the press release as forwarded from Billy Blastoff!!!!

"Billy Blastoff"...

Billy Crystal and John Goodman Lead an All-Star Voice Cast for
Disney/Pixar's Upcoming Animated Feature, ``Monsters, Inc.''

RICHMOND, Calif.Billy Crystal and
John Goodman lead a group of top vocal talents in adding frights and
delights to Disney/Pixar's upcoming animated comedy-adventure, ``Monsters,
Inc,'' it was announced today (8/10) by Thomas Schumacher, president of Walt
Disney Feature Animation, and Steve Jobs, CEO of Pixar Animation Studios
(Nasdaq:PIXR - news). The film, which is scheduled for a November 2001
release, also features the voices of James Coburn, Jennifer Tilly, Bonnie
Hunt and newcomer Mary Gibbs. ``Monsters, Inc.'' is directed by Pete Docter,
an Oscar nominee for his role in creating the original story for ``Toy
Story,'' and co-directed by David Silverman, the Emmy Award-winning
supervising director of ``The Simpsons.'' Darla Anderson (``A Bug's Life'')
is the producer with John Lasseter and Andrew Stanton serving as executive
producers.

Following the enormous international success of ``Toy Story,'' ``A Bug's
Life'' and ``Toy Story 2,'' ``Monsters, Inc.'' is a comedy set in the realm
of things that go bump in the night, where chaos breaks loose after a
hapless monster accidentally lets a human child into the monster world.

``Monsters, Inc.'' is being created and produced by Pixar at its Northern
California studios.

Monsters, Incorporated is the largest scare factory in the monster world and
James P. Sullivan (John Goodman) is one of its top Scarers. Sullivan is a
huge, intimidating monster with blue fur, large purple spots, and horns. His
Scare Assistant, best friend and roommate is Mike Wzowski (Billy Crystal), a
green, opinionated, feisty little one-eyed monster. The cast of characters
also includes the factory's CEO, a crablike monster named Henry J.
Waternoose (James Coburn) and the snake-headed, beguiling receptionist Celia
(Jennifer Tilly). One of the top Scarers is a sarcastic chameleon monster
named Randall Boggs (Steve Buscemi). Visiting from the human world is Boo
(Mary Gibbs), a tiny girl who goes where no human has ever gone before.

I'm so excited I'm first. Okay, now onto the real stuff. Having worked with Pixar and Disney in the past, I can only say they will carefully plan every move in creating this movie. Especially since others are now nipping at their heels.

John Goodman sweats talent so his characterisation alone is sure to rock. Jennifer Tilly, Steve Buscemi etc. are no slouches either. With a half-decent script this could turn out to be a classic.

It's "Ahh! Real Monsters" - so this is little more than a knock-off of a Nickelodeon show? Jeez, and I thought the whole Antz/Bug's Life thing was behind us. How about something more novel, like doing "Monopoly" as a Pixar film, with Shoe, Hat, Thimble, and Battleship slugging it out along Oriental Avenue? With the voice of Harvey Keitel as the Guy Behind Bars and Jennifer Love Hewitt as Community Chest and ... the mind boggles.

Tea Leoni in a Family Way

    by dollface134

I just caught a "glimpse" (you'll have to see the movie to get the reference) of the new Nick Cage movie Family Man. Alright, I caught more than a glimpse--I saw the whole damn thing and now I feel like a heel for all the piss poor decisions I've made in my life--but I digress. This movie is ***great***. Tea Leoni not only looks hot but gives a stellar performance in this film . Nicholas Cage is his usual bad ass self with superb comic timing and the eyes of a madman--god love him--he can do that and still be so endearing and charming! I literally tripped over this early screening--not knowing what to expect and I can say--I laughed, I cried, it was better than Cats and I would highly reccomend it. I think it's coming out around the holidays--the time at which most of us, ok I'll speak for myself, sit around and think about what would have been if only...

    by trippingbillie41

Right down to character descriptions. "Big hairy blue guy with purple spots and horns?" That's a perfect description of Rick Ducommun's character, I don't remember the name. I think it was Spike or something.

Little Monsters, by the way, is one of the best movies ever and everyone should see it.

    Frankenstein Project SUCKED

    by irie

The original script was a mess, and Universal proceeded making it worse. The art for the film is neat, but let's face it--the basic idea is lame. I saw the tests, and thought, "SO friggen what." Who wants to see that ANYway? I mean, why not shoot it in live action? With such a piss poor script (ALL of the scripts) it would have been cheaper to shoot it in live action, and looked just as good (probably better...).

    What About Mainframe?

    by bth-bob

In my opinion, Mainframe's produced a lot more great product than Pixar (Pixar's done 3 great movies, totalling about 4-5 hours, Mainframe's done 39 episodes of ReBoot, 52 of Beast Wars, 26 of ShadowRaiders, 26 of Beast Machines, and more, totalling hundreds of hours). Why don't they ever get the recognition they deserve? I'm sure they finally will with the upcoming ReBoot movies, their IMAX films which are in production, the Heavy Gear and Gatecrashers TV series, and the Scary Godmother TV series (if the contract ever gets out of limbo). Note that I'm not knocking Pixar or anything, I'm just saying Mainframe is great too.

    Steve Buscemi is awesome...

    by max fenig

and Blood Music remains the best literary work of all time. Let's hope Di$ney doesn't discover its greatness.****I think Atlantis has great potential, as does Monsters, Inc. If it's like Pixar's other films, it'll do great.**** I shall call on the power of BOBO, the most intimidating thing known to man, so that he may coerce people to go to moviewatchers because it's required of every human soul!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know, that was a shameless plug for a website that most aren't going to go to anyway, but I had to get out of my system.**** 4 mos. till the first LotR trailer, and, yes, I will incorporate this into every post regardless of its subject.**** (Here's another plug for a corporate TV station.) Everyone should watch Tenchi in Tokyo for the simple fact it's a Tenchi Muyo! spinoff. Even if you can't imagine why their eyes are so damn big, WATCH IT!!!!! that's all.***** waiting to see if monsters, inc. makes the big time, Max Fenig, member of NICAP.****

    by jayj

She can barely act. She's almost 40. She's getting a little flabby around the waistline (But hell, look at Mariah Carey and Jenny Lopez's ass). But she's a brunette (blondes are totally over-rated), she's got that Minnie Mouse raspy voice, a heaping- bodacious pair of...ah...legs, and I wouldn't kick her outa bed unless she wanted to do it on the floor. Oh yeah...she's in this new Pixar flick as well doing a voice over or something. Damn I gotta go take a cold one, dudes.

    typecast

    by shinshock

sometimes i wonder how buscemi got the idea to become an actor. my theory is he was sitting silently in his room and suddenly caught a glimpse of himself in the mirror, thus realizing that he was "weird-looking" (to use that hooker's line in Fargo) enough to be typecast as a freaky comic relief type of character. this isn't really a knock; he's a cool actor and all. i guess i just think odd thoughts.
