The red-band trailer for STAGE FRIGHT asks, "Is it wrong to sing and dance when someone just died?"

Papa Vinyard here, now here's a little somethin' for ya...

Following yesterday's excellent, old-school one-sheet debut, we have a look at the musical-theater-centric horror flick, STAGE FRIGHT via this red-band trailer. With its premise about a summer-camp production (of "Haunting of the Opera") that gets plagued with deadly "accidents" that reek of foul play, It certainly seems to have more in common with Dario Argento's OPERA than Hitchcock's 1950 STAGE FRIGHT (some of these remakes are just bullshit, man…).

More Argento touches? A shrouded, black-gloved killer, sex/murder, a young girl entering a frightening world she doesn't know, a tinge of jet-black humor, and PELTS star Meat Loaf Aday.

It's looking like there are some excellent horror moments here (can't wait to see what that young girl did to earn that crowd's applause at the end…), not to mention a healthy sense of satire in its premise about stage-hungry youths at summer camp. Everything I'm seeing here makes me think this could be a ripe, unique little horror-comedy, and when you check out Sable's short film, THE LEGEND OF BEAVER DAM, you kind of get an idea of what STAGE FRIGHT may end up being. And I'm all for it.

STAGE FRIGHT will overwhelm your body and close off your vocal chords on VOD on April 3rd, and in theaters on May 9th.
