The U.S. trailer for Steve Coogan's ALAN PARTRIDGE!

Papa Vinyard here, now here's a little somethin' for ya...

We saw the British trailer for ALAN PARTRIDGE (released over there with the subtitle ALPHA PAPA) back in June, and now, in anticipation of its release on VOD this month, we see how Magnolia aims to sell the character to U.S. audiences who have never heard of him. Coogan's a consistently funny bloke, and he's got some stateside momentum on him because of PHILOMENA (which he co-wrote), so I'm hoping this is able to win his Partridge character some new fans on this side of the pond. My girlfriend (who's never seen a Partridge bit in her life) has been dying to see this since that first trailer came out, and I have to say, I'm fairly excited that we're finally going to get a look at this flick for ourselves.

What do Partridge fans out there think? Should he have stayed on TV, or is there room for Alan Partridge in the cinema?

ALAN PARTRIDGE will arrive on U.S. shores on February 27th via VOD, and in theaters on April 4th.
