Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas, who scripted the CW’s excellent “Reaper” pilot, are now attached as potential showrunners to Marvel/ABC “Agent Carter,” which would examine how the Hayley Atwell character from “Captain America” kept herself busy as a two-fisted secret agent while Steve Rogers took his long ice-nap.
Another Marvel project, Joss Whedon’s “Agents of SHIELD,” is easily ABC’s top new series this season and ABC’s third-biggest scripted hourlong of any age. So far it is the only new ABC series considered a lock for the 2014-2015 season.
Like some currently serving on the writing staff of “Agents of SHIELD,” Butters and Fazekas were writer-producers on Whedon’s Fox series “Dollhouse.”
Recall that another Whedon protoge, "Cabin in the Woods" writer-director Drew Goddard," is serving as showrunner on Marvel's upcoming Netflix series "Daredevil."
Butters and Fazekas are also showrunners of ABC’s fascinating new sci-fi drama “Resurrection,” which has the best new broadcast pilot I’ve seen this season.
Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, who wrote on the "Captain America" movie, also scripted the "Agent Carter" pilot.
There’s no definitive word as to whether Atwell (who starred in the “Pillers Of The Earth” and “The Prisoner” miniseries), will make the transition to the small screen to the big as Clark Gregg did for “SHIELD,” but I’m guessing she’ll leap at the opportunity should a pilot be greenlit.
Atwell already starred as Peggy Carter in a short film made to accompany the “Iron Man 3” Blu-ray.
