Hey guys! Horrorella here...
The latest film from Hammer Films, THE QUIET ONES stars Jared Harris as an unorthodox professor, who enlists a group of students to assist on a series of scientific experiments designed to create a poltergeist.
Period horror can be a lot of fun, and I'm loving the setting on this one. Framing the story within an academic experiment in the 1970's gives it an interesting set-up. It pits science against the supernatural in a way that is not altogether modern. The machines and instruments shown here are at once familiar and foreign. And the addition of recording the proceedings allows them to use a first-person approach when it suits the scene, while still being able to maintain a traditional narrative, as opposed to going found-footage with it.
Check out the trailer below. There's a CGI shot at the end that is a bit jarring, but other than that, I'm excited. I've really enjoyed Hammer's latest offerings, and I can't wait to see what's in store with this one.
THE QUIET ONES co-stars Sam Claflin, Erin Richards, Olivia Cooke and Rory Fleck-Byrne. It opens April 25th.
