THE KNIGHTS OF BADASSDOM gets a release date! But which version will we see?

Papa Vinyard here, now here's a little somethin' for ya...

It's been almost 3 years since we first heard of Joe Lynch's LLARP-fantasy-comedy, THE KNIGHTS OF BADASSDOM, and now, we finally have a February 2014 release date courtesy of this announcement trailer. Which is good news. Not so good is that what we'll be seeing appears to be the version edited by the production company, IndieVest, rather than the original cut by director Lynch.

Funny, then, how the announcement trailer plays directly to the geeks who have been excited about this flick since Lynch brought a trailer and a clip to Comic-Con, when the studio has clearly (and publicly) affronted the film's creator. Do they really think that they will amass the kind of interest (and make the kind of loot) that they could've if the film's outspoken director was backing it up? Plus, there are reports from sites like Bloody Disgusting that the new cut has some glaring third-act issues that are obviously studio-sanctioned, and not part of Lynch's original vision (sounds like Ti West's CABIN FEVER 2: SPRING FEVER…I know, "He directed that?" Exactly.).

Nevertheless, the premise and cast (and, of course, the long wait) ensure that I'll be checking the film out as soon as is humanly possible. I'm sure many of you will do the same.

You guys still excited for this one, or have the delays and post-production woes turned you off entirely?

THE KNIGHTS OF BADASSDOM will finally go to battle on VOD on February 11th, 2014.
