Hey guys! Horrorella here...
Ever since Friday Night Lights, arguable one of the best shows ever to hit the air waves, went off the air in 2011, rumors about a possible film follow-up have been circulating, among fans and cast members alike.
Co-star Connie Britton recently indicated (via the LA Times) that one of the major hold-ups to a potential film was a lack of interest from Kyle Chandler. In an interview with MTV last year, he stated:
My general attitude about Friday Night Lights is, it was a great movie with Billy Bob [Thornton]. It was a great TV show. I never had more fun doing anything. [...] But they ended it at exactly the right time, and exactly the right way as well.
And now so does executive producer Peter Berg. In a recent interview with Collider to promote his upcoming LONE SURVIVOR, Berg stated:
“There’s not gonna be a movie. We talked about it, some people thought it was a good idea, some didn’t; I’ve come to believe it’s probably not a good idea and I seriously doubt it’s gonna happen.”
So it's sounding pretty official now. And, honestly, I have to agree with the sentiment. As much as I would like to see more Coach Taylor locker room talks and spend more time watching Eric and Tami being the perfect husband/wife team on planet Earth, I don't see how the concept or the story could possibly benefit from the addition of a film. The series got a fantastic ending when it went off the air, and I wouldn't want to see any of that undone by adding another movie to the mix.
What do you guys think?
