We have the first trailer for THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 right here and it hints towards some pretty exciting things!!

Hey Yo, Draven here.

Sony has started the marketing blitz for THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 this week by first releasing a banner, then some images, and now finally the first trailer, which we have right here:

A couple things of note, the trailer seemed to confirm that Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborne is definitely going to be the first Goblin we see (whether that is Green Goblin or Hobgoblin I am not sure). The trailer also made it seem like Harry is going to be Spidey’s main antagonist in the film, which is a little surprising as most of the marketing so far seemed to indicate that Jamie Foxx's Electro was going to be the big bad. I’m not complaining though, as I really think Dane DeHaan is going to knock this role out of the ballpark and he has a natural look of evil in his eyes that is very unsettling (something that was missing with James Franco’s portrayal of the character).

The trailer also teased some of the “untold story” that the first film’s marketing promised and then never delivered on. With that, we got a better look at that mysterious figure in the hat and trench coat, who showed up during the credits of the first film. One of the glimpses we got of him had a fun little reveal, with what looked like Doc Ock’s mechanical arms and Vulture’s wings (check out 1:15 into the trailer). So it seems Sony is really going to be building towards the Sinister Six in this film. Which makes me wonder that if Colm Feore is revealed to be playing Adrian Toomes (a.k.a. Vulture) in the film (as has been rumored), will we also get a look at Dr. Octavius (a.k.a. Doc Ock) and if so, who will be playing him?

I will say that the CGI in the trailer looked really bad and many of the shots looked like they were coming directly out of a video game (especially the looks we got at Electro and Spider-Man battling each other at the end of the trailer). The film is still a long way from its release date in May and so obviously the CGI will look a lot better but it still brings back memories of the first Sam Raimi SPIDER-MAN film and how it looked like Spider-Man weighed nothing as he was swinging through the city.

What did you guys think of the trailer? Are you encouraged by what you saw with it?
