Papa Vinyard here, now here's a little somethin' for ya...
A little over a month ago, we got our first look at footage from the VERONICA MARS reboot/adaptation via this featurette. Today, we get a clip of what seems to be an early scene of Veronica and her pals making their way through their 10-year high school reunion. There's a lot of talk about how outsider-y Bell and her buddies (played by Percy Daggs III and Tina Majorino) were in high school; now, they're three of the best looking (and, presumably, most successful) people at the party. Cute stuff, if not a little low-fi and TV-ish (somewhat expected, given the limited budget).
Entertainment Weekly posted the clip alongside the film's newly announced release date, which will be…
March 14th, 2014
This will put it a year and a day after creator Rob Thomas' initial Kickstarter announcement that the movie was, indeed, gonna get made, leading to some of the most acidic vitrol towards Kickstarter (and Thomas) I've seen to date. Not like the clip has dinosaur battles or erupting volcanoes or anything, but if fans are getting something that actually feels like VERONICA MARS, I'd say they're getting their money's worth. But as an outsider, I have no idea how to gauge how close Thomas & Co. have hit the mark, at least in what we've seen so far.
What do you MARS-heads think? Glad to see your favorite characters running around Neptune, CA again? Or should this have just stayed dead?
VERONICA MARS starts a-snoopin' on March 14th, 2014.
