The first two trailers for THE MONUMENTS MEN offered very different depictions of what the final product could actually look like - one being very comical and the other offering a much graver approach. This new international trailer (via The Daily Mail) offers more of a happy medium between the two. It also gives a more structured idea of what the plot will entail, and what is at stake.
THE MONUMENTS MEN tells the story of a group of art historians, scholars and curators who were tasked by FDR to recover priceless art pieces that the Nazis had been stealing from all over Europe.
Originally scheduled for release this month, the film has been pushed back to February in an effort to give Clooney more time to clean up the effects work. This is one that I am looking forward to, so I hope that the additional time allows him to meet his vision. If this trailer is representative of the final cut (and I hope it is), it looks like he is balancing the wit and serious tone nicely.
The film stars George Clooney, Matt Damon, Bill Murray, John Goodman, Cate Blanchett, Jean Dujardin, Hugh Bonneville and Bob Balaban. It will open on February 7, 2014.
