Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with today’s Behind the Scenes Pic!
It's October, so naturally I couldn't let the month go by without a nod to at least one of Sam Raimi's Evil Dead flicks. I'm going way back to Evil Dead 2 with not one, but two photos from the filming of the movie.
These stills are pretty groovy in that we get a glimpse at the stop motion effects. Assistant Animator Brian Rae helps bring a flying deadite to life. I'm struck at how basic this set up is. I know they were making this sequel by the seat of their pants, but one of the below photos you'll see a setup that looks very much like what a lot of indie filmmakers throw together today... Just a blue screen and some small lights.
Thanks to Elise Holmes and the Practical Effects Group for the images. Enjoy!
If you have a behind the scenes shot you’d like to submit to this column, you can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I thought tomorrow’s behind the scenes pic would be... taller.
I've got a lot of maintenance work to do on the previous BTS articles, but you can visit two pages worth of images (beware of some broken links thanks to the last server shift): Click here for Page One and Click here for Page Two!
