Hey folks, Harry here with... well, the knowledge now that CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON was an adaptation of some source material, which was itself a larger story... from which we might learn more about the world that CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON and its prequel/sequel films will come from. I cannot wait to hear more about these stories from folks in the know...

Hi Harry,

Ye is here.

Recently, Li Danquan, the widow of Wang Dulu (author of the novel Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon was based on) and their daughter have been interviewed by The New Daily in China. They highly praised Ang Lee’s newest film and pleased by his work. The original novel is called Crane – Iron Pentalogy and CTHD was based on only a very small fraction of it. They agreed to let Crane – Iron Pentalogy being filmed under one condition – Ang Lee be the director. Also, Ang Lee has told them that he was planning sequels and prequels. The production company has already bought the film production right of the entire Crane – Iron Pentalogy. Looks like the producers already had a series in mind before CTHD was shot. Ang Lee has decided to let CTHD to compete the Best Foreign Language Film Category of the Oscar.

In other news, casting for the TV version of CTHD is almost done. The TV series is a co-production of Mainland China and Taiwan.
