Kumar Pallana
1918-2013

Nordling here.

If you're a fan of Wes Anderson's films, the world just got a little bit sadder tonight.  Kumar Pullana, who appeared in Anderson's films like BOTTLE ROCKET, RUSHMORE, and THE ROYAL TENENBAUMS, as well as many other films, including Steven Spielberg's THE TERMINAL, has passed away at the age of 94.

In his youth, Kumar appeared on such children's shows as THE MICKEY MOUSE CLUB and CAPTAIN KANGAROO, but when he was almost 80, Wes Anderson cast him in BOTTLE ROCKET, playing Kumar, one of Dignan's heist crew, who sadly, "loses his touch" ("Did you ever have a touch to lose?" replied Dignan during the disasterous heist), before appearing in RUSHMORE as groundskeeper Mr. Littlejeans, and then as Royal Tenenbaum's sidekick Pagoda (who stabbed Royal - twice!).  Proving that you're never too old to make your mark, Kullana appeared in various films by directors like Steven Spielberg and John Turturro.

We here at Ain't It Cool News offer our condolences to his family and friends.  "Best life ever, man."

Nordling, out.
