Seth McFarlane's foul-mouthed teddy bear and everyone's favorite thunder buddy will be returning to the big screen in 2015, as Universal has finalized the release date for the sequel to the 2012 comedy. TED 2 will open on June 26, 2015, adding it to an already pretty stellar (and really crowded) summer line-up.
While the sequel isn't going up against anything directly that weekend (yet, anyway), it's sandwiched between some pretty fierce competition. JURASSIC WORLD will open on June 12th, Pixar's INSIDE OUT and ASSASSIN'S CREED on June 19th, and following the release, the TERMINATOR reboot and INDEPENDENCE DAY 2 will open on July 1st.
Add in THE AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON on May 1st and EPISODE VII sometime that summer, and I'd probably better just move into the theater, because I won't be seeing my house until September.
MacFarlane will be returning to write, direct and star as the voice of the titular Teddy bear, and Mark Wahlberg will return as best friend John. It is unknown if Mila Kunis will be reprising her role or now. Co-writers Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild will also be back to pen the screenplay with MacFarlane, though no plot details have been released.
