Of course it’s CBS, so the network’s new Vince Gilligan series, “Battle Creek,” is a cop show.
Gilligan wrote its pilot for CBS a decade ago, but the project failed at the time to advance to the pilot stage.
The pilot will be re-written and likely directed by Gilligan, though the post-pilot showrunner will be “House” mastermind David Shore. (Gilligan will presumably be busy doing other things, including overseeing AMC’s just-greenlit “Breaking Bad” prequel series “Better Call Saul.”)
Under the new deal, CBS is contractually obliged to air all 13 first-season episodes of “Battle Creek” beginning next autumn.
The Times has the premise:
“Battle Creek” is a drama about two detectives in Battle Creek, Mich. One is a trusting naïf, the other a cynic who relies on guile and deception. They find themselves in competition with an F.B.I. agent whom they see as the epitome of a crime-fighter, though he is far from that.
Sunday’s penultimate episode of “Breaking Bad” was the most watched episode of the series ever. How it compared to other Sunday night shows:
