I don't know what the hell is going on in this new trailer for UNDER THE SKIN, but I am so digging it. A teaser dropped a couple of weeks ago, that was little more than a series if bizarre shots. Now we have and extended trailer, which is full of even MORE bizarre imagery. Between the visuals and the score, it's right out of a Lynchian dream (or nightmare - those two tend to overlap quite a bit).
Scarlett Johansson plays an alien who traverses the Scottish countryside, collecting human experiences and seducing men to their untimely deaths.
This is the new film from Jonathan Glazer (SEXY BEAST) - his first film in 9 years, in fact. It got mixed reviews at Telluride and at TIFF, but that kind of makes sense, given the footage that we're seeing here - weird tends to divide audiences. But consider me intrigued. This will definitely be a film that I will seek out when it opens.
UNDER THE SKIN has been picked up by A24, but we have yet to hear an official release date.
