TONTO FROM HOT TOYS
Even though Disney's The Lone Ranger received a lukewarm response from the movie-going public, Hot Toys will still release a new deluxe 12-inch action figure featuring Johnny Depp’s likeness. This upcoming release will have real fabric hair implantation with black, long, straight hair and tribal accessories, a detailed crow and bandana sculpture on the head, more than 30 points of articulation, 7 interchangeable hands, a tribal necklace, bracelets and armbands, moccasins, a dagger with sheath, two axes, a pistol, two pocket watches and a figure stand. He’ll ride into toy collections in the first half of 2014 or you can preorder him here.
LIFE-SIZE KENNER STORMTROOPER FROM GENTLE GIANT LTD.
You’re going to need a bigger toy shelf… Bring your childhood to life with this human-sized Stormtrooper, digitally scanned from a mint-condition 3.75-inch Kenner action figure. He stands six feet tall, is fully articulated and comes with a blaster accessory. Gentle Giant Ltd. will offer this limited edition hand-painted monument via its website for $2,300 dollars with an arrival date sometime in the third quarter of next year.
BATMAN: ARKHAM ORIGINS SERIES TWO FROM DC COLLECTIBLES
DC Collectibles has announced a second round of 7-inch scale action figures based on the upcoming game Batman: Arkham Origins. This prequel set several years before Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City features a group of dangerous assassins gunning for a younger version of the Caped Crusader. The second wave will include Deathstroke, Deadshot, Anarky and Firefly with an arrival date of March. This will follow the first wave of Arkham City figures featuring Batman, Joker, Bane and Black Mask that releases in October.
DC TOTAL HEROES FROM MATTEL
Mattel has a new wave of 6-inch superhero action figures designed not to break the bank. Each figure has at least 14 points of articulation and comes packed on a blister card. Batman,Superman, Green Lantern and Sinestro will ship in January.
POWER LORDS EXCLUSIVES FROM POWER-CON & THE FOUR HORSEMEN
The Four Horsemen will bring a couple of exclusives with them this weekend’s Power-Con. The 4-inch scale Power Solider and Elite Power Soldier feature fully articulated and Glyos compatible bodies, come packaged in numbered poly-bags, and will be equipped with both a staff and rifle. These Power Lords will set you back $10.00 a piece with no limits on the amounts you can purchase.
AND FINALLY THIS WEEK... in a fruitless search to find a retro toy commercial for the original Power Lords toy line by Revell, I ran across this blast from the past. I had a couple of these awesome figures (the red guy and one of the bad cyborgs), but forgot all about them, until today...
