Zack Snyder vet Larry Fong to act as cinematographer on MAN OF STEEL sequel!

Papa Vinyard here, now here's a little somethin' for ya...

Good news for fans of pre-MAN OF STEEL Zack Snyder. ComingSoon.net caught a quickly-redacted update to cinematographer Larry Fong's official resume that listed BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN/the MAN OF STEEL sequel as his most recent credit. This would make a great deal of sense; while TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON's Amir Mokri lensed MAN OF STEEL, Fong has worked with Snyder on his previous three live action features for Warner Bros., SUCKER PUNCH, WATCHMEN, and 300. He was also J.J's lens flare wrangler on SUPER 8.

I thought the look of MAN OF STEEL was a big part of what signified it as "new Superman", but there's no question that Fong's work with Snyder has clarified and defined the director's visual style. Think about how much more "Snyder-y" 300 is compared to his previous film, DAWN OF THE DEAD. If working with someone he's previously collaborated with grants him a more confident hand as a director (which he'll need, now that Chris Nolan isn't there to shepherd him along the process), then this would seem to be a sound hire.

Expect some slow-motion money shots. And some really intense shadows and filters.

BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN (or MAN OF STEEL 2, or whatever tests well with focus groups) will demolish (the rest of) Metropolis on July 17th, 2015.
