Holy. Shit. Check out this trailer. It's for a documentary called THE SUMMIT, about a mysterious and tragic Everest climb that took place in 2008, where a group of 25 climbers set out to reach the summit of K2, and 11 never made it back down. It consists of documentary footage taken before and during the climb, as well as reinacted segments and interviews to attempt to tell the story of what transpired.
This looks equal parts fascinating, intense and and absolutely terrifying. I was pretty sure I was never going to attempt mountain climbing anyway (equal thanks to watching A LONELY PLACE TO DIE last year and just being generally klutzy in life), but I'm sure one screening of this film will seal the deal forever. And while I'm on the subject, anyone reading this who has gone mountain-climbing before automatically gets like 50 cool points. You are a total badass, and I raise my glass to you.
