Hey guys! Horrorella here...
Now that the summer blockbuster season is winding down, we are starting to see smaller films and potential awards fare getting more and more attention. Like this - the trailer for the adaptation of Markus Zusak's acclaimed and best selling novel, The Book Thief. Directed by Brian Percival (Downton Abbey) the story follows a little girl (Liesel Meminger) living with her foster parents (Geoffrey Rush and Emily Watson) in Nazi Germany, who finds solace from the chaos around her by stealing books.
If you can get past the heavy-handedness of the trailer (the voice-over narration is particularly cloying), it has the potential to be an interesting and touching story. The source material was incredibly well-received, so if the book translates well to the screen, this could be something to watch for later this fall.
THE BOOK THIEF opens November 15th.
