Bill Plympton is a national treasure of hand-drawn insanity. From "Plymptoons" to amazingly twisted features like I MARRIED A STRANGE PERSON, MUTANT ALIENS, HAIR HIGH and IDIOTS AND ANGELS, Plympton has carved out a distinct place in the history of animation, and is worshipped by his contemporaries. I can't think of another animator working today who's this prolific and reliably brilliant. This is why I cherish each new work from Plympton as I would the latest from Miyazaki.
Plympton's latest is titled CHEATIN', and it appears to be a sordid tale of romance, betrayal, jealousy and, perhaps, murder. Goddamn, I love the way his mind works. Enjoy this trailer.

In a fateful bumper car collision, Jake and Ella meet and become the most loving couple in the long history of Romance. But when a scheming “other” woman drives a wedge of jealousy into their perfect courtship, insecurity and hatred spell out an untimely fate. With only the help of a disgraced magician and his forbidden “soul machine”, Ella takes the form of Jake's numerous lovers, desperately fighting through malfunction and deceit as they try to reclaim their destiny.
