Howdy do, everyone, Papa Vinyard here.
Yes, I know, we've all seen PACIFIC RIM, and we all know how great it is (I was overly harsh in my review…saw it again and 99% of my nitpicks flew out the window). But damn, this reel shows just how impressive the work ILM did for Guillermo Del Toro really is. I mean, you kinda knew Hong Kong was all set-work, and that the Kaiju designs probably took forever to develop and finalize, but this video really shows how crucial the FX work was to the finished film. Add to this the rumors that ILM felt like they had their hands full and were scared they wouldn't meet the completion date, and I am mighty impressed that the spectacle came together as well as it did. This stuff will hold up for a while, I reckon.
Does this make you wanna catch PACIFIC RIM in theaters again? After what we're hearing about this weekend's releases (THE CONJURING notwithstanding), I think it might!
Go see PACIFIC RIM in theaters now!!
