MTV debuted the first trailer for James Ponsoldt's THE SPECTACULAR NOW. Ponsoldt last directed SMASHED, which starred the amazing Mary Elizabeth Winstead as an alcoholic woman struggling to adopt sobriety. Here, it's looking like he is changing gears a bit, and tackling more of a coming-of-age/first love story in this new film.
THE SPECTACULAR NOW stars Miles Teller (RABBIT HOLE) plays hard-partying, living in the moment Sutter Keely, who meets quiet girl Aimee (Shailene Woodley - THE DESCENDANTS), after she finds him passed out on a neighbor's lawn. The two strike up an unlikely relationship as they navigate their first tentative steps into adulthood.
Also starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Kyle Chandler, Brie Larson, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Bob Odenkirk, this film was very well-received at Sundance, with fans raving about Teller's performance, in particular.
