The new trailer for the upcoming THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS: CITY OF BONES hit today via MSN. The Mortal Instruments is the latest Young Adult series to be adapted into a movie franchise. Based on the best-selling books written by Cassandra Clare, it tells the story of teenager Clary Fray, who discovers that she is descended from a line of Shadowhunters - half-angel warriors charged to protect humanity from the demonic forces of evil.
This trailer shows a bit more footage than the first one, but nothing game-changing. A lot of the same stuff you saw the first time around.
There are six books in the series (the last of which has yet to be published), so if this does well, there is plenty of material for more flicks. I have read exactly zero of the books, so I'm really not sure what to expect out of the adaptation. If any of you are familiar with the series, we would love to hear your thoughts below.
THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS: CITY OF BONES will hit theaters August 21st. What do you guys think? Is it poised to be the next TWILIGHT, or is it going to just fade into the background?
