Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Gotta say I was a bit surprised at how much I liked the below trailer for 300: Rise of an Empire. Since Zack Snyder was not directing and the original Frank Miller-based story didn't really demand a sequel, I expected it to be a random "Oh, shit! This made money, guys! We have to franchise it!" studio cash-in. And it could very well be that, but the scope feels epic, the style seems to be a natural progression from the groundbreaking style Snyder made famous in the first film, the georgraphy of the action is precise and clear and it seems as if there's a definitive voice telling the story.
Or it could all be a mess and they have some great trailer cutters over there. It's always hard to tell from the marketing materials, but no matter what I can say that trailer did its job for me, taking the movie from a passing interest to an "okay, I'm excited to see what they do" quasi-geekout.
What do you folks think?
