Hey guys! Horrorella here...
I've learned a lot of things from watching horror movies, but if there is one point that stands out, it's that the creepy-ass ghosts ALWAYS come back.
And they're back with a vengence in the trailer for the sequel to James Wan's and Leigh Whannell's 2010 hit, INSIDIOUS.
The first film told a great story, but left a lot to explore. The sequel looks to tackle the ongoing plight of the Lambert family, but also to shed some additional light on Patrick Wilson's character and his forays into The Further. INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 2 sees Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne, Barbara Hershey and Ty Simpkins reprising their roles as the Lambert family. Simpkins, it is worth noting, recently finished magnificently keeping verbal pace with Robert Downey, Jr. in IRON MAN 3.
I've really enjoyed the films that Wan and Whannell have teamed up on so far and what they offer to the horror landscape. Wan has a visual style that paints the supernatural elements of their stories in an entirely different and unexpected light. There is a real tangibility to his ghosts and demons, which gives them their own strange, unnerving quality - particularly in a genre drowing in CGI spirits. His style lends a certain realisim to what we see onscreen, and that is something that I have always found to be particularly disarming.
It's a big year for James Wan (and for horror fans), with INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 2 opening September 13th, and THE CONJURING in theaters July 19th.
